Relocating staff and high value items
This client was founded with a vision to emerge as a leading integrated research-based, global pharmaceutical company. Over the decades, they have established themselves as a leading player in the discovery of new molecules.
In Switzerland they employ over 150 staff and had to relocate some of their laboratories into the Biopôle of Epalinges. During this process they also relocated 40 employees, and moved into a new building to develop the biological innovation department.
Crown Workspace was appointed by Milian, who are experts in providing consumables and equipment for Biotech laboratories, to support this leading pharmaceutical company with their complex move. Milian required support in transporting high value and delicate items.
Crown Workspace led the planning together with the client which included: arranging the necessary days of operations, organising the resources and coordinating the transport of specialist items through refrigerated and secure trucks.
Chemical and explosive products required purpose built crates for the transportation of delicate laboratory materials. We had to guarantee that the nitrogen and fridges were transported from 0 to -80 degrees Celsius.
A solution to fully meet the brief
We had to ensure the refrigerated trucks kept a consistent temperature throughout the move, with a maximum deviation 4 degrees Celsius. All of the clients’ fridges had to stay between 0 and -20 degrees to protect its contents.
In the pharmaceutical company’s labatories, some goods were stored in fridges at -80 degrees celsius which can represent 10 years of work and research. Those items were crucial to be kept at the right temperature during transportation; which was over 150km.
Crown Workspace was the only company to provide a solution that fully met the brief. We had to ‘’transform’’ a truck and install electricity inside to keep the -80 degrees fridge with power during the entire 150km journey.
“We have worked with Crown Workspace multiple times. Each service was carried out to a great standard, taking into account the specific needs of each of our clients (special crates, special transportation) from the initial preparation meetings to the actual relocation to the new laboratories.”
