The results indicate that there is an increasing awareness of the importance of sustainability within the facilities management sector:<\/p>\n<div class=\"main-content-center\">\n<div class=\"content-box\">\n<div class=\"jpnl-content\">\n<div class=\"panel-grid panel-has-style\">\n<div class=\"jpnl-row panel-row-style-for-5697-0\">\n<div class=\"jpnl-cell-wrap jpnl-col-index-0 jgrid-col-12\">\n<div class=\"jpnl-cell panel-cell-style-for-5697-0-0\">\n<div id=\"panel-5697-0-0-0\" class=\"jpnl-widget-wrapper jpnl-wi-0\" data-index=\"0\">\n<div class=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\">\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n<ul>\n<li>31% of FM respondents said sustainability was \u201cextremely important\u201d<\/li>\n<li>35% of FM respondents said sustainability was \u201cvery important\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The trend reflects wider UK awareness in sustainability issues and the IWFM recognises that programmes such as the BBC\u2019s Blue Planet series have been a factor in engaging the public around environmental issues.<\/p>\n<p>The survey reports that a total of 48% of respondents said that the most frequent sustainability criterion stated in tenders is environmental considerations.<\/p>\n<p>Ann Beavis represents Crown Workspace in the IWFM sustainability special interest group and helps to feed in to what the survey covers, focusing on social value. She comments: \u201cProcurement criteria are a good indicator of how far sustainability is embedded in the FM sector.
