Is it time to kill the open office, for good?
Is it time to kill the open office?
The open office, with its hotdesking, absence of barriers and open environment promised to turn workspaces into collaborative environments. Decades after it became the paradigm, we ask: has it actually done this? We asked 1200 office workers and facilities managers around the world.
What we found:
• 77% of people ranked individual work areas as the single most important aspect of office working.
• Technology is the primary reason office workers wish to go to the office, but these needs are not being met.
• 91% of workers could be encouraged to spend more time in the office through changes to the office environment.
