Sustainable clearance for VISA supports local school

We were delighted to support VISA (VPL) with the donation of quality used furniture and equipment to SS Peter & Paul’s Catholic Primary School in Ilford as part of their sustainable clearance project. VISA was committed to donating as much as possible to ensure that their unwanted assets could go to help others in greater need.

During the clearance, our Sustainability Co-ordinator reached out to the school to see what items from VISA would be most useful. The school were greatly appreciative of receiving a total of 43 items including locker units, desks, catering and electrical equipment as well as boxes of stationery and crockery.

SS Peter & Paul’s, like many schools, face budgetary challenges and said afterwards that the stationary alone has saved them a huge amount of money, allowing them to direct funds to support the educational needs of the children.

Social and environment benefit

Our Giving Back Project diverts assets that are no longer required to schools and charities UK-wide. As well as having a social benefit, these donations create a huge environmental saving. We estimate that the furniture within the donation alone has saved approximately half a tonne of CO2e. This is equivalent to the carbon sequestered by growing 8 tree seedlings for 10 years.

“We are so grateful to Visa for the items they donated, and to Crown Workspace for all the brilliant work they do to support schools such as ours.”
