Now more than ever there is an increasing focus on climate change and a desire to minimise the environmental impacts of our workplaces whilst delivering social value.

Jeff is a Project Manager at Crown Workspace. He is a strong advocate of building long-lasting relationships with clients, and is consistently looking at ways to complete projects with sustainability at its heart.

Crown Workspace has been leading the sustainable workplace agenda for the last decade, and key to that achievement is our unique award winning Renew Centre – where we remanufacture, refurbish and repair office furniture and equipment.

As the Renew Centre has expanded and evolved, the signage has become hidden and in some areas required updating. We are now expecting more visitors to the centre, therefore being an ideal time for the signage to be updated to showcase the importance of the work and the difference it is making. Also, other updates such as reorganisation, storage, layout, and redesign are required in affected areas.

Crown Workspace’s Interiors department was invited to review the décor in the Renew Centre and the signage to bring it up to date and maximise showcasing the work carried out. Areas that needed major updates were the reception/entrance, workshops, upholstery, staff kitchen and toilets.

Based on project brief and budgeting, Crown carried out the following works:

  • Design: plans & visualisation
  • Entrance: walls & signage redecoration
  • Workshops: reorganisation, new workshop was built with ventilation system
  • Upholstery: reorganisation
  • Kitchen: removal, moved position, reinstalling
  • Toilets: layout & partitioning changes, sanitary installation
  • Redecorated walls around the building

Results

The entrance is now welcoming visitors with Circular Economy signage that shows our renewal journey and is referencing The Renew Centre.

We have been able to improve the workshops storing solutions, layout, and organisation, and now the new space can be used to support more marketing signage than initially.

We relocated the position of the kitchen, which ensured that it could be extended more than double of the initial size, now offering more storage and seating options for staff. The existing kitchen and toilet merged to allow space for a larger staff toilet that can accommodate max. 4 persons.

Finally, to reduce the smell of the products that are used in the refurbishment process, an open space workshop was enclosed and provided with a ventilation system and necessary storage.
