Case Study

Sustainable donation of over 2,100 monitors to charity

Crown Workspace recently worked alongside LSEG to gift equipment to multiple UK-based charities, most notably monitors, monitors arms, and excess cables.

LSEG’s London Community Action Team worked with numerous charity partners including School- Home Support, Skills Builder, Young Enterprise, Urban Synergy and Business in the Community (BITC). The LSEG Foundation has enjoyed working with these non-profit organisations and connecting with schools to provide a range of skills. These skills include financial literacy, essential business skills, career talks, mentoring and digital skills to prepare students for the working world.

When LSEG decided to change their existing IT equipment, they had an excess number of monitors, although some were retained for remote working users.

After reviewing existing policies and coordinating a collection with Crown Workspace’s experts, LSEG agreed to donate over 2,100 monitors to charity. Crown’s Renew IT service team then tested the monitors, added new cables, and repurposed the monitors.

The key aim for the project was sustainability, which is a key part of the LSEG Foundations ethos in giving back to communities. This was achieved using recycling, reducing waste, environmental impact, and social impact.

The project was completed within a few weeks, due to the drive and commitment from Crown EMEA desktop team to ensure the work was completed swiftly and to a very high standard. The Crown Renew IT team worked tirelessly throughout the night for four weeks, including some weekends, swapping the monitors, and categorising the equipment in preparation for the donations.

“Thank you to the Crown Workspace team for making a difference to so many that have benefited from these items and many more that will benefit in the coming months. Teamwork does make the dreamwork!”

“We are committed to maximising reuse and extending the lifecycle of IT assets, as well as supporting charities and schools, so were delighted to be able to work with LSEG on this project. In addition to the social benefits achieved by reusing this equipment, we diverted 11 tonnes of potential e-waste back into reuse and saved 100 tonnes of C02(e). A great achievement for all!”
