Case Study

Transfer of warehouse and offices to a modern facility

Supporting Flowstore Systems with a number of services

Flowstore Systems Ltd proposed to undertake the relocation of their assembly and distribution operation from Hayes to West Drayton, and were seeking support from a high-quality workspace organisation who could provide:

  • Effective management control, planning, and supervision
  • An environmentally acceptable solution for the clearance of unwanted equipment and furniture
  • The transfer of operational stock and high-value machinery and equipment

We worked alongside our heavy haulage service partner who provided curtain-sided 40-foot trailers, as well as heavy lifting equipment to relocate warehouse machinery with one piece. This ensured warranty issues were maintained, which was subsequently project managed, dismantled, and reassembled by the Italian manufacturers.

The move involved the transfer of 50 staff, including desk top technology and owner packed crates.

The move management company produced a request for price, and against a competitive tender selection process, Crown Workspace were awarded the contract.

The transfer selected pallets and bundles to create working space, which was carried out in a continuous programme over a 10-day period.

Crown Workspace supplied 150 cages where loose stock was transferred. Each one had an internal shelf, and circa 300 roll cage movements based on 30 roll cages per trip using an 18-tonne tail lift removal vehicle.
The team attended the site for the week of transfer to support the move.

All other machinery was decommissioned and mechanically disconnected by Crown’s heavy haulage service provider, and transferred to the new facility, where it was mechanically reconnected and recommissioned plus line & levelled.

The office move was carried out in one shift and a sustainable clearance was achieved upon completion of the transfer.

The transfer of the stock was carried out with precision, as was the transfer of the machinery, which meant the downtime to the client was kept to the absolute minimum. Distribution was able to commence after the first day of stock transfer despite issues surrounding the installation of optic fibre cabling by a specialist company.

We were able to deliver the project within the expected timescales.
