Woking Library – relocation of approximately 1,700 linear metres of books

Professional relocation into temporary accommodation

Surrey County Council required a professional relocation service provider that was highly experienced in library relocations, to assist them in moving from their current building to temporary accommodation. This was needed to allow building work and refurbishments to take place.

This relocation project was part of the largest project that Surrey Library Service had undertaken for some time, requiring the relocation of approximately 1700 linear metres of books at the library. It also had to be cleared of all library stock, shelving and furniture, whilst delivering business-as-usual operations throughout the project.

Providing a dedicated project manager

Crown Workspace provided a highly experienced and dedicated project manager to work alongside the team from Woking Library, to ensure that the project ran smoothly and delivered against all key objectives.

Whilst the refurbishment works took place and all required stock and furniture were cleared, our team packed, moved, unpacked and stored the library book stock, ensuring that strict sequences were maintained at all times; and moved the library back post-completion of the refurbishment.

The services we provided included:

  • Move management, strategy and planning
  • Sequential packing and unpacking
  • Furniture dismantling, relocation and assembly
  • IT – desktop moves
  • Storage services
  • Sustainable furniture clearance

Crown Workspace managed to complete this project ahead of time, delivering a professional service that protected the library assets, whilst ensuring business-as-usual operations for the client.

“My thanks go to the team who moved Woking library from the current building to temporary accommodation. It was most reassuring that, with other dates, deadlines and details changing, Crown Workspace played their part with their normal effiency. We look forward to working with them again on the forthcoming projects.”
