LandAid SleepOut 2022 – Our experience

LandAid’s 2022 SleepOut event is over!

A huge thank you to LandAid for hosting this fabulous event, it was great to be involved and raise money to help support young people who are homeless, with the aim to #endyouthhomelessness.

Hear more from the Crown team that took part below:

“For me, the Sleepout gives you a small view of what life on the streets would be like, we do this for one night and then go off to our warm homes. Some people end up on the streets for years. Everyone should have a warm safe place to live.”

Phil Oram, Regional Director

“I am so pleased we had such a good team together and were able to raise so much for such a fantastic cause. It was certainly a cold night but young people that are homeless experience this every day without the safety of an organised location that we had where we could return home the next day.

LandAid do brilliant work and I know that what they have raised will go a long way in helping those that need it.”

Eleanor Holmes, Sustainability Co-Ordinator

“I’m delighted that I was able to be involved in this great event and get even a very small insight into what young people across the UK have to experience every night.

I can’t say I had the greatest sleep of my life, but it was an insightful event and one that I’d love to be involved in over the coming years!”

Ryan Hardie, Marketing Executive

“It was a great event, and I am grateful to have been involved! It was good to hear from the different charities and the great work they do in helping to prevent youth homelessness.

I’m sure that all who attended the event will definitely not take our warm homes, a comfy bed or guaranteed safety whilst being at home for granted ever again.”

Tommy Hall-Brown, Marketing Assistant Apprentice

“Although I couldn’t begin to understand what these young homeless people are going through each night, the LandAid SleepOut event was a real eye opener. Not managing to get any sleep at all meant that at 3am when it was freezing cold and very uncomfortable all I could do was lay there any think about what these young people have to go through every night. The LandAid SleepOut event was very informative, and I will definitely be doing it again.”

Laura Holmes, Project Manager

“I was so proud to have participated in this great event, it was an amazing cause raising awareness to what some young homeless people have to go through. As hard as it was, I definitely would do it again.

It warms my heart knowing that at least some of these young people will get the chance to sleep in a warm bed and have a hot meal for the night.”

Marie Nourrice, Customer Support Administrator

“I have always been keen to take part in events aimed at helping the ones in need, in my home country, Honduras I collaborated as much as I could. It was a nice and pleasant experience to be able to do it this time from a country that has open its doors to my development, both as a Professional and as a human being. Ready for the next one!”

Jorge Messen, Technical Supervisor

“Whilst this was my first-time taking part in a SleepOut event, it was great to be part of a team supporting the fundraising efforts for youth homelessness. Throughout the night we were able to hear from a range of different people speak about their experience and learn more about the issues that still effect more than 100,000 young people. Sleeping outside with my head in a box wasn’t something I thought I would ever do, but I hope to be doing it more regularly now to help raise awareness for a cause that matters.”

Emma Stewart-Oram, Marketing Intern

“It was a real insight being involved in such a great charity. To be able to experience just a snippet of the reality of sleeping on our streets really put things into perspective. I look forward to stepping up to the challenge for 2023 and beyond”

Victoria Wickenden, Operations Manager
