Against a backdrop of significant achievements in reducing our carbon footprint, Crown Workspace have committed to continuing to provide carbon neutral moves for all clients throughout 2025. This marks the fourth consecutive year of this initiative which means that all emissions from fleet, packaging, staff travel, and office use have been offset through the purchase of carbon credits, in line with the best practice standard PAS2060.

Moving businesses more sustainably

For the fourth year in a row, all Crown Workspace moves in 2025 will be operationally Carbon Neutral. We have been providing this for our clients since 2022, each year measuring and offsetting the carbon emissions generated from our services. We believe that while we work to genuinely reduce the environmental impact of our services, through innovation, the procurement of electric vehicles, and improving efficiency, offsetting still has a benefit to our clients and the planet.

How we did it?

We have self-certified as carbon neutral against the recognised standard PAS2060, which involves the full quantification of the carbon emissions related to our moves services, including from all direct and partner vehicle movements, our offices, packaging, and employee commuting. We then purchased the equivalent number of carbon credits, from verified sources, in order to ‘offset’ these emissions.

All of our credits were purchased through Gold Standard, with whom in 2024 we retired a total of 710 Verified Emissions Reductions, covering the carbon emissions generated by the moves services carried out for our clients. This means that with our investment, Gold Standard prevented 710 tonnes of CO2 emissions from being released into the atmosphere, through various projects around the world. Last year, our credits funded programmes including wind power generation in India and Turkey, energy efficiency projects in Eritrea and Malawi, and solar power installation in India.

Why carbon neutrality?

We recognise that offsetting is by no means the panacea of sustainability, which is why for us, our carbon neutral service sits as a part of a much wider strategy and approach to reducing our emissions and wider environmental impact.

Our Three-Pillar Responsible Business Strategy drives this forward, within which our Climate and Environment Pillar details our approach to achieving Net Zero by 2040, embedding the circular economy across the business, and preserving natural resources.

We believe that achieving carbon neutrality is most credible when all layers of the carbon hierarchy (avoid, reduce, replace, and compensate), have been thoroughly explored and implemented. Our commitment to our net zero strategy has led to significant progress, via investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency projects, fleet rationalisation, and the replacement of conventional vehicles with electric ones. As a result, by January 2025, we had achieved a 54.5% reduction in our Scope 1 & 2 emissions against a 2019 baseline.

Despite these advancements, we recognise that certain aspects of our business, such as our fleet, present substantial challenges in reducing our carbon emissions further. This is why, while we work across the business to address these challenges, we believe that offsetting these remaining emissions is a viable interim solution until further reductions can be achieved and we are currently reviewing our ongoing position for 2026.
