The millennials workplace of the future

The new generation of millennials and their working styles have begun to dominate the workforce.

According to the BPW Foundation, millennials will take up three quarters of the global workforce by 2020.

So what does this mean for the future of traditional offices?

Automated systems are set to replace repetitive office tasks, removing tiers of traditional work teams and roles.

IT teams will also be under increasing pressure to implement demands of agile IT systems, enabling people to work anywhere, anytime and on any device.

This new wave of connected employees are driving expectations for easy use and accessibility – a habit that has been heavily influenced by recent consumer website services.

Under the Millennials influences, employee’s now want to find data as easily as they can browse for books online. Workers are coming ‘information fat’ which slowly down their productivity at work. AIIM.org noted that £15bn is wasted globally each year looking for ‘lost information’.

Over the next five years organisations will need to consider a solution to support dynamic working styles. This could involve implementing networking and collaboration systems to support accessibility and remote working to ensure the maximum productivity out of its employee’s.

Getting the balance is key to getting the best out of your employee’s. if you can provide the right management tools – balancing collaboration with security – then the potential to unlock the productivity and creativity of your staff is unlimited.
