Our 2022 sustainability highlights
Crown Workspace has made huge progress against our sustainability strategy in 2022 and will have much more to update you on in the coming year. In the meantime, we wanted to share just some of our highlights from 2022:

Awarded gold EcoVadis sustainability rating
We were delighted to be awarded a gold EcoVardis rating in our first ever assessment, achieving an overall score of 68% which put us in the top 2% in our category. Despite achieving an outstanding 70% in environment, labour and human rights, and ethics, and 50% in sustainable procurement, we are already looking at how we can improve on all four areas of our sustainability performance.

All client moves now carbon neutral
To complement our work to reduce our carbon emissions in line with our net zero target, Crown Workspace were also delighted to launch our carbon neutral relocation service in 2022. We are offsetting all carbon emissions from client moves through Gold Standard, with our carbon neutral claims made in line with carbon neutrality standard PAS 2060. We believe that these operationally carbon neutral moves will support our clients in reducing their Scope 3 emissions in the short term, until further carbon reductions can be made.

29% reduction in CO2e emissions in 2022
In 2021, along with all Crown UK & Ireland brands, we set ourselves an ambitious net zero target for our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2040 against a 2019 baseline with interim targets of 45% by 2025 and 65% by 2030. We are proud to say that we have already achieved a 29% reduction in 2022 through initiatives that included switching all internal and external lighting at our Manchester warehouse to LEDS with sensors, installing solar panels at our Leeds site, and introducing three electric vehicles into our fleet.

How to align records management to net-zero targets
Crown UK & Ireland is driving sustainable innovation across all our brands. In 2022, Crown Records Management published a white paper to identify how organisations could align records management to net zero targets. The team identified a carbon dioxide equivalent value against a box of records held in one of our facilities, and then the carbon savings possible from completely digitising the whole data management process. The findings are fascinating!
